Decisions A. DROI scrutiny on Human Rights and Democracy aspects of Global Europe/NDICI The Coordinators agreed on the principles that should guide DROI scrutiny on human rights and democracy aspects of the Global Europe/NDICI instrument, namely seeking an effective and efficient relationship between AFET and DROI, and safeguarding DROI core work and expertise within the global financial instrument. The Coordinators agreed to set up a Working Group (WG) to scrutinise the thematic programme on Human Rights and Democracy and to closely work with AFET and DEVE Working Groups in order to provide input for strategic orientations and scrutinise the implementation of the human rights and democracy cross-cutting objective of the Global Europe/NDICI instrument. They also decided to discuss the concrete modalities of the DROI WG and their involvement with AFET and DEVE at the next Coordinators’ meeting. II. Any Other Business - In response to China’s decision to impose sanctions on the Subcommittee, the Chair consulted with DROI Coordinators on a draft press statement that was ultimately co-signed by AFET, Del-China and INGE Chairs. - MEP Hannah Neumann asked for clarification on the role of the Subcommittee on Human Rights and DROI Coordinators in the context of the Oral Question/Resolution on the new EU global Human Rights Sanctions regime. The Chair confirmed the agreement of a joint AFETDROI process, took note of the support of Coordinators for DROI active involvement in the process and informed that clarification will be sought. III. Date of next meeting The next Coordinators’ meeting will take place in 14 April 2021.
