OIC Condemns Netanyahu's Remarks on the Occupied Syrian Golan

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned in the strongest terms the holding by the Israeli Governmentof a provocative meeting in the occupied Syrian Golan andthe remarks by Israel’s Prime Minister that “the Syrian Golan Heights will forever remain under Israeli sovereignty”. The OIC considered such actions and statements by the Israeli government as serious escalation and flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Iyad Ameen Madani, said that the OIC will call for a meeting of the Representatives of OIC Member States in order to discuss the recent Israeli statements on the occupied Syrian Golan.

The Secretary General reaffirmed the position of the OICthat the Golan Heights are an inseparable part of Syrian territory. He re-emphasizing again the unified position of the OIC, which calls for ending the Israeli occupation of all Arab territories occupied since 1967, including the Syrian Golan Heights, and considers the continued Israeli occupation as a threat to security and peace in the region and the world.
