Joint Appeal of the Secretaries General of the League of Arab States and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for A Ceasefire in Syria on the Occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan
Dr. Nabil Al Arabi, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) and H.E. Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani, the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) launched today a joint appeal to all the parties fighting in Syria to commit to a full ceasefire and a halt of all acts and forms of violence and fighting on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. The aim of this appeal is to stop the bloodshed of the Syrian people, to alleviate their harsh suffering and to allow relief organisations access to perform their duties and deliver urgent humanitarian assistance to the devastated areas in all Syrian territories. H.E. Mr. Iyad Ameen Madani and Dr. Nabil Al Arabi called upon all influential regional and international parties and powers concerned with the Syrian crisis to support this joint appeal and to join efforts to urge the Syrian government and all fighting parties to commit to the declaration of truce and full ceasefire and halt of all military operations.
