Peaceful Civil Movement Revives the Revolution for Freedom and Dignity

Over the past few weeks, the Syrian people have once again breathed new life in the peaceful revolution for freedom, reaffirming commitment to the goals they set out to achieve five years ago. Syrians have once again declared refusal to live under tyranny and have shown unwavering determination to go through with their struggle to reclaim freedom and dignity.

Despite the immense suffering, killings, displacement, devastation, arrest, starvation and siege inflicted on them, the Syrian people have today reasserted to the world their outright rejection of the survival of the Assad regime under any circumstances. Adhering firmly to the revolution’s flag and goals, Syrians have made it clear they will never buckle under any attempts to allow for the continuation or reproduction of tyranny and injustice.

The Syrian people will continue their struggle for the sake of establishing true democratic and pluralistic Syria. They have also proved the Syrian revolution is a revolution of a people who have endured oppression and repression for so long.

The Syrian people have sent a clear message to the world that their revolution has never and will never be motivated by ideological or sectarian drives. Terrorism is not but a means the Assad regime has manufactured, exported and manipulated to discredit the revolution and circumvent the demands of the people. The Syrian people have always set an example for moderation, coexistence, tolerance and brotherhood in the region. Syrians have taken to the streets again, chanting for freedom and dignity.

The Syrian Coalition reiterates that peaceful civil society activities should include all areas inside Syria and spread abroad. The Coalition urges the Syrian people to actively engage and boost the peaceful movement that has been revived recently. Tireless efforts, in all areas, are needed today to achieve the goals of the revolution. Victory is close today than ever, and freedom will be reclaimed to all Syrians.

While the Syrian Coalition commends the revival of the peaceful movement in Syria, it stresses that this movement offers an opportunity for the Syrian opposition, mainly the Syrian Coalition, to reaffirm itself and do the necessary reforms to create the conditions needed for the triumph of the revolution.

The Syrian Coalition stresses that the engagement of all Syrians in the peaceful movement will make victory closer. By actively participating in peaceful activities, the Syrian people demonstrate they deserve freedom and self-determination. They also demonstrate that the Syrian people are united and that they are not warring parties as the Assad regime seeks to portray them.
