The Syrian Coalition welcomes today’s comments by Foreign Secretary William Hague calling for the immediate implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution No.2139.
The Syrian Coalition also highly appreciates the United Kingdom’s continued assistance to the Syrian people reaching £600m to date. Secretary Hague highlighted the plight of the Syrian people in a statement to parliament today underscoring that the UK will work with the UN and partners to try to ensure that the regime’s stranglehold on starving people is broken.
The Syrian Coalition reiterates the need for immediate implementation of the resolution which will allow the access of humanitarian aid vital to the survival of thousands of civilians in Syria. The international community coming together to demand relief to the Syrian people was undoubtedly a significant positive step, but it is of even more vital importance to ensure this agreement is duly implemented in the quickest, most efficient manner.
