French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, has confirmed that the Assad regime has used poison gas in Syria against civilians. This assertion is corroborated by information previously released by the Turkish government, Syrian activists and doctors.
In light of the recent findings by France, the Syrian Coalition renews its call to hold an emergency meeting of the Security Council in order to issue a resolution that puts an end to the Assad regime's human rights violations. The Syrian Coalition wants to stress that the regime is still capable of using these chemical weapons as the French report points to the gradual escalation in their use against civilians.
The Syrian Coalition asks for practical action on the ground, as condemnatory statements are not enough to change a tragic situation and to save lives. The circumstances in Syria demand international action to cripple the regime's capability of murdering civilians and to provide the Free Syrian Army with quality weapons to enable them to protect civilians and put an end to the Assad regime.
We ask for mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
