Call for Recognition of Israeli Sovereignty over Syrian Golan is Inadmissible, OIC Asserts
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) considered the US Administration's intention to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan, as media reports indicated, a serious departure from the international consensus and a violation of the international legitimacy that recognizes the Golan as an occupied Syrian territory since 1967. The OIC asserted that this would flagrantly prejudice the international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions, in particular Security Council Resolution No. 497 (1981).
The OIC renewed its full support to the legitimate right to regain full sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan to the line of 4 June 1967.
