Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel spoke to his Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov today about the situation in Syria. Foreign Minister Gabriel issued an urgent call for all parties to now implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 2401 and immediately bring about a ceasefire in Syria.

A five-hour ceasefire cannot be anything more than a first step to access those under siege, to bring essential supplies to the people in the region and to save lives.
