A statement on targeting water facilities in Aleppo city

On Thursday 22nd of September 2016 Pro-Assad air forces targeted "Bab Al Nayrab" boosting station by two

airstrikes causing heavy damages in the building of the station as well as damages in /20 KV/ power grid line

that feeds the station, destruction of electricity switches and the electricity generator. All mentioned above,

brought the station out of service and was documented and shared through our official social media accounts.

Next day on the 23rd of September 2016, another airstrike targeted "Zarbah" electricity transmission station

continuing the mission of destructing infrastructure. This station was in recovery phase after a previous aerial

bombardment. All these was taking place during the most atrocious level of systematic violence applied on

besieged east Aleppo city which caused multiple technical dysfunctions in the network of power grid, on the top

of them is the main high-voltage line which provides electricity to "Suleiman Al Halabi" station, resulting full

stoppage in water supplies towards the entire city of Aleppo.

In a response to that, field operation teams repaired the damaged high-voltage line reconnecting "Suleiman Al

Halabi" station with power grid again and restarted boosting water for both eastern and western

neighborhoods of Aleppo city. Moreover, our field operation teams started rehabilitating "Bab Al Nayrab"

boosting station in order to be able to provide potable water for the neighborhoods in the old city of Aleppo and

other neighborhoods in east Aleppo city as soon as possible.

We firmly decline and rebut all what has been circulated during the "security council" session for Aleppo city

and in some international media agencies stating that we turned off water in "Suleiman Al Halabi" station

depriving 1.5 million people from potable water as a reaction against the attack of "Bab Al Nayrab" station. What

actually happened is an electrical dysfunction in the high-voltage electricity line which provide electricity to the

station for several hours. This line was repaired immediately, then we reactivated the station boosting water

for the entire city as referred above. We condemn all trials of whomever trying to cover the truth helping

Assad's regime in faking reality and we consider this party as a partner in this crime. Since the beginning of

Syrian revolution this regime and his allies are attempting to systematically destroy vital infrastructure and

public facilities in opposition controlled areas then accusing them for doing so.
