Official statement for the liberation of Deir ez-Zor and the end of Daesh caliphate

On the other side of the Euphrates, in the northeast of Syria in the region of Deir ez-Zor, a

battle between Daesh and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), YPJ and YPG started two

years ago.

In this corner of the world that the so called Islamic State has established, reinforced and

put into practice its fascist and murderous ideology since five years. By spreading its

ideology around the world, the region of Deir ez-Zor has attracted thousands of foreigners

from around the world, men, women and children, who later became the new Daesh

fighters.

For many years murders and viols were practiced, women and girls were enslaved, a

population manipulated and subjected to male domination was created. Already from the

beginning the people self-defense forces YPG fought against this fascism in Rojava, north

of Syria. The liberation of Kobane in 2015, leaded by the women self-defense unit YPJ,

spre ded all over the world.

In order to put an end to these dark years and to fight against the extension of the so

called Islamic State in syrian land and beyond, in 2017 the long fight in Deir ez-Zor under

the command of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) began.

And today, 23rd of march 2019, after one and a half year of heavy fighting, we

communicate to you with great joy and emotion the official liberation of all the northeast

Syria from the caliphate of the so called Islamic State.

Today we are celebrating with our comrades from the SDF, YPG and YPJ the beginning of

a new life, the freedom of êzîdî women and children, who were kidnapped five years ago

in Şengal, the freedom of young women, who were made slaves, the end of a dark and

violent time.

Today new perspectives and colours are emerging for this region and, like it was in Minbic

and Raqqa after being liberated, people of Deir ez-Zor will decide about their future.

Because now their future is in their own hands. And we're looking forward to see a system

of self-organization and self-administration developing in this area.

Today we remember all our comrades who gave their lives in this battle by falling Şêhîd.

For some of them this war meant the protection of their land and the development of an

alternative ideology to capitalist modernity. For some others it meant to take a long way to

support this. The forces of the liberation are as colourful as the ethnics living together in

this region, such as arabic, kurdish, êzîdî, assyrian, turkmen, tscherkess, syriaks and also

internationalists, who decided to come here and engage in this fight, because their desire

for global freedom had prevailed over the fears and their love for life pushed them to

protect it.

In all cases, their determination and strength are a great inspiration for us, making this

success more beautiful, more meaningful. Their memory, their names give us an

unshakable strength and remind us that the road to the liberation of the peoples - from all

kinds of oppression - continues and that we will never give up or left people behind.

As internationalist fighters of YPJ we experience this moment as historical. It is one more

step, a gear that is spinning and taking another to create this continuous dynamic towards

the liberation of the peoples, in the four corners of the world.
