In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Syrian Islamic Council statement on the so-called Sochi conference.

Praise be to Allah who says, "They plot and He plots, and Allah is the best plotter", and peace and blessings be upon our prophet Muhammad, the imam of mujahideen and leader of the blessed and honorable, and upon all his family and companions.

Rounds of conspiracy against our steadfast people are non-stopping, limitless and relentless. Signs of a new wave of conspiracy against the revolution are looming at the horizon by the one who has occupied our land, helped the felonious regime with different means stabilize its falling structure, supported it in all international assemblies and repeatedly defended its crimes against humanity by means of Vito in every possible occasion. It has recently invited to the so-called "Congress of the Peoples of Syria" or "Syrian dialogue congress" in Sochi, Russia.

The Syrian Islamic Council, acquainted with this issue as a whole, states the following:

First, the conference, as announced, is aimed at discussing several subjects, including a new constitution and proposed reforms while completely ignoring the political transition process and disregarding Syrian people's demand of the departure of the felonious regime, which has killed more the half a million, wounded more than million and displaced more than half the population; not to mention the detainees and missing people whose exact number is only known by God. The council sees this conference as nothing but an attempt to maintain the regime, reproduce it and help it avoid punishment for its crimes that are classified as genocide and crimes against humanity. The regime is making dialogue with itself by pushing the ready-made opposition, headed by the so-called "Moscow platform", into the lobbies of the regime and its allies as representatives of the Syrian opposition. Moreover, it is an occupation force writing a constitution for a people under its mandate and occupation. It is supposed that the Syrian people writes its own constitution at its free will without any mandate or dictation from any side.

Furthermore, the Russians are introducing themselves as guarantor, but at the same time, they are supervising genocides, such as in the Damascene East Ghouta, which is still blockaded. Starvation began to kill children, the elderly and women. The air raids are still continuous. The recent shelling of a school in Misraba was not the last incident of the kind. How credible is this guarantor, who had pledged to stop air raids and bring in food and medicine as a part of 'de-escalation zones agreement? Safar 13th, 1439 H corresponding to November 2nd, 2017.
