NOTE BY THE TECHNICAL SECRETARIAT

FUTURE ACTIVITIES OF THE OPCW FACT-FINDING MISSION IN SYRIA

Addendum

1. Further to the Note by the Technical Secretariat (hereinafter “the Secretariat”) entitled “Future Activities of the OPCW Fact-Finding Mission in Syria” (S/1255/2015* , dated 10 March 2015), this Addendum provides information on the expected time frame for the next phase of the work of the Fact-Finding Mission (FFM), which could include an OPCW team visit to the Syrian Arab Republic.

2. The expected time frame and composition of the FFM team to be deployed are as follows:

(a) Final confirmation for the team visit is expected from the Syrian Arab Republic.

(b) The team is likely to be composed as follows: two medical doctors; one to two chemical weapons munitions specialist inspectors; one to two analytical chemist inspectors; interpreters and security officers.

(c) The dates of the visit are to be mutually agreed between the Secretariat and the Syrian Arab Republic.

(d) The preparation time needed for the team is between two and four weeks.

(e) As per the agreed terms of reference, the visit is expected to last up to 14 days. This period may be extended, as necessary.

(f) The report of the visit shall be submitted to the Director-General within 45 days following the return of the team to OPCW Headquarters.

(g) Preliminary findings may be submitted earlier, if necessary.

(h) The above relates to the expected work of the FFM specifically in the context of the information provided by the Syrian Government on 19 December 2014.
