OIC Welcomes Outcome of Syrian Opposition Meeting in Riyadh

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a statement welcoming the results of the second expanded meeting of the Syrian opposition which was held in Riyadh, capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

H.E. the OIC Secretary General expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its commendable role in hosting the Syrian opposition groups and for having offered them care and support on their way to a unified stand such as to consolidate their demands.

The Secretary General offered his congratulations to the Negotiations Committee that was established during the meetings hosted in Riyadh and paid tribute to this initiative which will ensure a collective representation. He further added that a unified stand on the part of the Syrian opposition will be conducive to unity among all its components and platforms and also strengthen its position in the negotiation process and contribute towards the fulfillment of the Syrian people’s aspirations.
