OIC calls for Ensuring Security and Safety of Syrian Civilians In Al Quseir and other Syrian Regions and Reiterates the Need for a Peaceful Solution to the Crisis

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called for ensuring the security and safety of the Syrian civilians in Al-Quseir and other Syrian regions, and for action to abort any vengeful retributions or collective punishments against the defenseless citizens. The General Secretariat recalled its unwavering principled stand as adopted by the Islamic Summit and ministerial conferences since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, advocating the need for a peaceful solution to the crisis, such as to put an end to the continued episodes of killings and devastation, which have been ongoing for over two years, a solution that would also ensure the unity, security and stability of Syria and respond, at the same time, to the demands of the Syrian people in terms of reform and democracy. The General Secretariat of the OIC called upon all Syrian parties to respond positively to the international efforts in favour of the convening of the Geneva II meeting, and to resort to dialogue and negotiation to achieve a peaceful, consensual and sustainable solution to the Syrian crisis.
