OIC Secretary General welcomes proposal to put Syria’s chemical weapons under international control, and calls on UN Security Council to speed up search for peaceful solution to Syrian crisis
The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, welcomed the proposal to put Syria’s chemical weapons under international control as a step towards finding a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis. He also stressed the need to free the Middle East from weapons of mass destruction. The Secretary General also emphasised the need for the UN Security Council to take the necessary measures to stop the bloodshed in Syria, as well as to punish those who caused the murder of Syrian civilians by chemical weapons.
