OIC General Secretariat Reiterates its Principled Stand Towards a Peaceful Solution to the Crisis in Syria and its Support for International and Regional Efforts in this Regard

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reiterated its principled stand in support of a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria, and recalled in this connection its sustained efforts since the outbreak of the crisis and its repeated appeals to the Syrian Government to put an end to the bloodshed of innocent citizens and to respond to the legitimate demands of the Syrian people for democracy, respect of human rights and good governance, within the framework of Syria’s unity, security and stability. In this regard, the General Secretariat expressed its support for the resolutions adopted by the Council of the Arab League at its meeting in Cairo on 12th February, 2012. The General Secretariat further expressed its determination to keep up its consultations and coordination with the League of Arab States and the United Nations in favour of a peaceful solution to the crisis.
