OIC Secretary General Condemns Damascus Bomb-attacks

Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed his vigorous condemnation of the two bomb attacks that took place in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Thursday 10th May 2012, claiming the lives of scores of innocent Syrian citizens and causing injuries to many others. The Secretary General reiterated the OIC’s principled stand in support of a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria and appealed to all parties to put an immediate end to all violence. He also called upon the Syrian Government to see to the implementation of the plan proposed by Kofi Annan, the joint international envoy, and to respond to the legitimate demands of the Syrian people as to democracy, human rights observance and good governance, within the framework of Syria’s unity, security and stability.
