OIC Secretary General meets with Russian Ambassador to KSA

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, on 08 April 2012, received at his office, H. E. Dr. Oleg Ozerov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Both sides had useful and extensive exchange of views on various issues of common concern and in particular, they discussed the Syrian crisis and its potential consequences. On his part, the Secretary General stressed very strongly on the immediate need to stop violence and bloodshed in Syria and urged Russia to play a more instrumental role in pushing further the Syrian regime to implement promptly Mr. Kofi Annan’s Six-Point Peace Plan. Prof. Ihsanoglu also stressed on the absolute essentiality of fixing a timeframe for the implementation of Mr. Annan’s plan. The Russian Ambassador commended the very consistent and active role played by the OIC in this crisis.
