مع انتشار فايروس كورونا الذي هدد دول متقدمة ومتطورة صحياً، وهي تهرع ليلاً نهاراً جاهدة لاتخاذ كافة التدابير الوقائية لهذا الفايروس الفتاك من إغلاق مدن كبرى بأكملها وتعطيل أغلب الدوائر الحكومية وحركة النقل وتأجيل الأنشطة الرياضية والنشاطات الدينية، وفرض التباعد الاجتماعي بقوة القانون، فهو وباءٌ يهدد العالم أجمع. وفضلاً عن وجوب إطلاق سراح المعتقلين بموجب قرارات مجلس الأمن خصوصاً القرار (2254) و بغض النظر عن التقاعس الأممي في إلزام نظام الأسد بتطبيق البنود الفوق تفاوضية فإننا نهيب اليوم بالأمم المتحدة بجميع هيئاتها لا سيما مجلس الأمن باتخاذ ما ينبغي من خطوات تُلزم النظام السوري بالإفراج الفوري عن المعتقلات والمعتقلين القابعين في مسالخه البشرية التي تفتقر لأبسط متطلبات الحياة، وذلك قبل فوات الأوان وحلول كارثة إنسانية ستكون وصمة عار وصفحة سوداء بتاريخ الأمم والشعوب، تُفقد الأمم المتحدة هيبتها ومصداقيتها، كما ستحيل منظمات حقوق الإنسان لمسرح اللا فعل واللامعقول.

وما يزيد مخاوفنا هو إشراف العنصر الإيراني والمليشيات العراقية ومليشيات حزب الله اللبناني على هذه السجون والمعتقلات وهي فئات استشرى فيها هذا الوباء و أصبحت من أخطر مصادر نقله.
