Statement on the Recent Israeli Aggressions Targeting Southern Syria

Damascus, 15 July 2025 The Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest possible terms the treacherous Israeli aggression carried out today through coordinated drone attacks and military air strikes, targeting areas within Syrian territory. This assault has led to the martyrdom of a number of our armed forces and security personnel, in addition to several innocent civilians.

This criminal act constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, a flagrant breach of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and a reprehensible example of ongoing aggression and external interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

This attack came at a calculated moment and within a suspicious context, clearly aimed at undermining national stability and striking at Syrian unity at a critical juncture in which the state is working to consolidate security and emerge from the aftermath of war.

In light of this dangerous escalation, the Syrian Arab Republic:

1. Holds the Israeli side fully responsible for this aggression and its consequences

2. Calls upon the United Nations, the Security Council, and the international community to uphold their legal and humanitarian responsibilities, and to clearly and effectively condemn this wrongful aggression.

3. Reaffirms its unwavering adherence to its legitimate right to defend its land and its people by all means permitted under international law.

In this context, the Syrian state affirms its commitment to protecting all of its citizens without exception, foremost among them our brethren from the Druze community (the Muwahhidun Druze), who form an integral part of the national identity and the united Syrian social fabric, and who have always embodied patriotism, honour and courage in defending the land and the homeland.

We call upon our honourable people in the Governorate of Sweida to stand united behind their state and national army, and to reject all suspicious schemes or calls for chaos, for history does not forgive-and it will record who stood by their country, and who abandoned or conspired against it.

Syria shall remain, as its people have always known it, impervious to division, strong through the will of its sons and daughters, free in its decisions, and dignified through the blood of its martyrs.
