Joint Statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey on the International Meeting on Syria (Astana format)

We spoke in detail about the situation in the Middle

East and North Africa. As the participating countries of

the "Astana format" agreed to further contribute to the

fulfillment of the tasks set in UN Security Council

Resolution 2254. Confirmed the demand for consistent

steps to promote the effective activities of the

Constitutional Committee, incl. in preparation for the

sixth session of its Drafting Commission. We will pay

special attention to these and other issues at the next

international meeting on Syria, which will be held in

Nur-Sultan next month.

Discussed the situation in the north-east of the CAP

and in the province of Idlib, including task execution of

the Russian-Turkish Additional Protocol on 5 March

2020 to the Memorandum on the establishment of a

demilitarized zone in Idlib on September 17, 2018

were in favor of the final eradication of terrorism in

Syria territory. We emphasized the importance of

providing comprehensive humanitarian assistance to

all Syrians without exception.

We reaffirmed our support for the efforts being made

in the interests of an early peaceful resolution of the

Libyan crisis under the auspices of the UN. Expressed

their readiness to help the new authorities formed in

March of this year in holding a referendum on the

constitution and in organizing the general elections

scheduled for December 24, 2021.
